Brooke's Page - The Children...Left Behind

"If I Could Change One Thing about My Life..." by Brooke

Brooke was 8 years old when her father passed. The last time she got to talk to him was on Christmas Day 2004. Her father was buried at Arlington on Jan. 10th 2005. Brooke was very quiet all day long and had such a somber look to her.

She really didn't express out loud any of her feelings until sometime had passed. It took her a few months before she was ready to go visit his grave site.

On Father's Day 2005 Brooke joined Sons and Daughters in Touch (adults who lost their parents in Vietnam) at the Wall and she said the Pledge of Allegiance.

It was good for her to see adults who have been through what she has. She is also a part of TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors). This is a great non-profit organization that helps those who have lost a loved one in the military.
